“Fantastic musician, arranger, creative project manager, and – he’s a great guy!” (Tony Kakko, Sonata Arctica)
Regardless of the ability level or style of your performers, whatever the instrumental or vocal line-up, you can expect creative, professional and inventive interpretations of your favourite music. Whatever your musical arranging project, whether choral, orchestral, for a variety of bands or for piano, Mark Deeks has made crafting arrangements in vastly different styles and musical contexts to their original recordings, a speciality.
Previous arranging clients include:
• Inspiration UK choirs in Newcastle and Leeds
• Echo Choir in Newcastle
• Royal Northern Sinfonia
• Orchestra of Opera North
• Euro Disney
• Alfie Joey – BBC Presenter and Comedian
• English black metal band Winterfylleth
• Sing Live UK
• Midland Voices
• Magic Radio Choir
• Take Note Community Choir
Some of the biggest successes have included the conception of a project involving Tony Kakko of Finnish metal stars Sonata Arctica performing arrangements of their music with 300 singers and an orchestra in 2008, and a dramatic, rapturously-received version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” for Inspiration UK. Other highlights have been helping write and arrange the jazz and swing music for Alfie Joey’s one-man comedy musical “Monopolise” in 2010, and reinterpreting the music of American heavy metal legends Manowar for choir and orchestra, including making use of the huge pipe organ in Leeds Town Hall in 2012. Please see the Audio + Video page for examples.
Whatever the musical arranging that you require, the arrangements you receive will be sure to both excite and inspire. For vocal arrangements it is also possible to provide MP3 recordings of each vocal line to assist with rehearsals and part learning. Contact Music Newcastle to discuss your project.
